Civil War Music

Performances Music was performed in many places. Like at home fronts, concert pieces, patriotic rallies, gatherings, and popular support.

Songs: Songs played were, The Battle Cry of Freedom, Dixies land, Maryland, My maryland,, Lincoln and liberty, Weeping sad and lonely, Tenting on the Old campground, When johnny comes marching home, Roll alabamba, roll, Battle Hymn of the republic, The bonnie Blue flag, Battle of shiloh, Slavert chan dance broke at last, and Free at last.

George Fredrick Root George Root was born in Sheffield and Grew up on a farm. He was born in 1820 and died in 1895. he cunducted Choirs

Confederate bands There were few of them. They had no good instruments due to the short metal supply in the south. All the best instrument makers were in the south anyway.

Band members Drummers-Each infantry regiment was accompanyed by one. They beated their drums to the beat to keep the soldiers in formation. They also played taps and lights out. Fifers-The fife is a high pitched instrument made of rosewood similar to the piccilo. they were accompanyed by drummers. Buglers-Cavalry had buglers to keep formation, they used distant calls.They make calls in camp and on march.
